Presidents

I just read an article called "Seven Presidents Nobody Remembers" on cnn.com.

This is sad. When I was in the 5th grade in elementary school our teacher made us look up every single president and write a one page report on him. We spent most of the year doing it as homework. Every week she discussed one of the presidents and read a students paper. We got extra credit for pictures.

We also had to memorize all the presidents and vice presidents. Everyone who did it correctly got to walk down the street to the yogurt shop for a free waffle cone.

Naturally we all hated doing all that, but... I still remember all the presidents.

I teach 10th and 12th grade now. I seriously doubt one of my students could list more than 10 presidents. I think I will test them tomorrow and see.
